The Buddy Brown Blue Fest began in 2001as the Blue Lake Blues Festival, and was renamed in memory of Richard Duggins (better known as Buddy Brown), who opened the festival its first year and passed away shortly after. For over 40 years, the Humboldt Folklife Society has existed to teach, celebrate, and encourage participation in folk and traditional arts.
